Our Experiences

Project STRATEGIC PLANNING & CHANGE PROCESS at the World Agroforestry Center (ICRAF)
Duration First engagement: strategic planning in 1999-2000

Second engagement: strategic re-orientation & change process 2006-2007
Country / Region Global / International Organisation / Kenya
Services delivered First engagement: facilitation of 2 stakeholder consultation workshops

Second engagement:
  • Design of the strategic planning process,
  • Facilitation of  strategic priority setting workshops in 2006 and 2007,
  • Further coaching towards development of the strategy and organisational changes required
Achievements In the earlier involvement, the input has mainly been limited to the facilitation of regional consultation workshops with stakeholders in Southern Africa and Westafrica as inputs into the centre-wide strategy.

The second involvement in ICRAF’s strategic design came after the need to re-focus the organisation after an external review. The main achievement of the facilitated process in this difficult situation was the agreement and buy in by all staff and management on 3 very clear and focused strategic priorities around which the organisation could re-organise itself. New arrangements and a new structure of the organisation was developed and a change process to operationalise these was designed.

PICOTEAM has been further consulted in the development of the new operational setup based on the new strategy.
Partners ICRAF and its stakeholders
